Our community was opened in October 2008, as a vision of Dr. Jeff Long, a family physician with offices in Herscher.

Dr. Long was born in Manteno, Illinois the youngest of six children. He always dreamed of becoming a family doctor and has now practiced medicine since 1989. He graduated from the The Chicago Medical School in June of 1986 and continued with his family practice residency at University of Illinois, Methodist Hospital. He chose Herscher to open his practice in 1989 and still resides there with his wife Diane and four children.
Dr. Long recently served as Chief of Staff at Provena St. Mary’s Hospital and multiple other chairmanships of medical staff committees. He is Board Certified in Family Practice and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice. He is very active in the community, his church and the local schools. Dr. Long relaxes by spending time with his family at his farm in Iroquois County where he enjoys hunting and fishing.
Beth attended Bradley University graduating magna cum laude in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication. In 1983 she graduated summa cum laude from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy. She completed her Masters of Business Administration in 1995 at the University of Illinois at Springfield.
She is a Certified Public Accountant and has held professional positions in both the private and public sectors with experience in auditing, accounting, budgeting, compliance and management, with a particular focus on academic healthcare.
She began her professional career in public accounting then moved on academic medicine at SIU School of Medicine. During her first 20 years at SIU she served as the chief financial and budget officer for the medical school and clinical practice. She currently is Chief of Staff for the Executive Dean/CEO and is senior administrator for the family medicine department and residency programs. Between employment stints at SIU, she was a senior consultant for Echo Consulting Group, focusing on health care data analysis and operational performance improvement.
She raised her three daughters in Springfield, IL but now has returned to her hometown, Manteno, and lives there with her husband.
Denny graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1977. From 1977 to 1986 Denny worked for Champaign National Bank. In 1986 Denny was involved in creating an investment group that acquired Bank of Rantoul and was elected to serve as CEO and Chairman of the Board of the Bank.
Denny continues in that role today.
After graduating from Southern Illinois University with a B.S. in Natural Resources, began his professional career in the Forest Products Industry in Michigan. In 1980 he moved to Colorado to begin a 20 plus year career for the State of Colorado in the Department of Natural Resources. He began in 1981 with an entry level position in the Division of Minerals and Geology and in 1992 he became Executive Director of that agency and served in that role for 10 years. In addition, during that time period he was succeeded by the Governor of Colorado to the State of Indiana as Deputy Director of the Department of Natural Resources. His role was to advise the Governor and DNR Executive Director on how to strengthen and reorganize their Mining and Oil and Gas Division as well as head up the Geological Survey.
As Executive Director of the Division of Minerals and Geology in Colorado, he was responsible for the regulation and development of Colorado’s mining industry (coal, base metals, precious metals, building materials and fissionable minerals). In addition, he was responsible for the remediation of Abandoned Mines, Mine Safety, the Geological Survey and the Colorado Avalanche Center. He is a recognized expert in government mining regulations and environmental impacts and as such was asked to consult and work with the governments of Russia, Indonesia, India, China and Albania.
In 2002 he joined Shell Oil Company and is currently Vice President and General Manager for Regulatory Development and Sustainability for Shell Upstream Americas. He is also considered one of Shell’s global experts in Biodiversity, Ecosystem Services and Impact Assessment. As such, he has worked for Shell Oil in China, India, Argentina, Brazil, Columbia, Mexico, Canada and Africa.
Michael has lectured at the Colorado School of Mines, University of Colorado, Colorado State University, University of Michigan and Queens University in England on the subjects of environmental impacts, energy and mineral development and sustainability and biodiversity. Michael firmly believes in the benefits of responsible mineral and energy development and the need to provide inexpensive reliable energy to society.
Mr. Minton has over 40 years of experience in all phases of the health care industry, including 32 years of experience in administration, financing, planning and development of communities and services.
A registered nurse, Mr. Minton has practiced nursing in both nursing homes and hospitals. He holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Nursing from Kaskaskia Junior College in Centralia, Illinois.
Mr. Minton has also served as Vice President of a national nursing home and retirement housing management and consulting company. He also has served as Vice President of Development for a 350-bed hospital and Vice President of a corporation that developed clinical facilities in rural areas of Illinois for the Department of Health & Human Services.
Mr. Minton’s first company, Blair Minton and Associates, was formed in 1989 to assist hospitals in building for-profit businesses. Between 1990 and 2000, Blair Minton and Associates (as a management/development consultant) helped to develop over 400,000 square feet of medical office space for Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva, IL, Hoopeston Hospital in Hoopeston, IL and Illini Hospital in Silvis, IL. Included were a cancer treatment center, outpatient kidney dialysis unit, inpatient rehab and normal medical office space. Blair Minton and Associates also consulted in the development of independent living, assisted living, nursing homes and rehabilitation facilities for several other hospitals and non-profit corporations. Blair Minton and Associates managed over 400,000 square feet of medical office space for Delnor and Riverside Hospitals over 13 years.
Mr. Minton formed BMA Management (now Gardant Management Solutions) in 1999 to develop, build and manage Supportive Living Facilities (SLF) in Illinois. BMA received 2 of the first 6 licenses for SLF and now have 40+ licenses in Illinois. Most of these communities were financed and built from the ground up.
Mr. Minton formed Journey Senior Living in 2015 to build and manage private pay assisted living and memory care communities. Journey and its sister community Life’s Journey Senior Living are for-profit mission driven companies that believe that our mission is to keep people out of nursing homes while providing them with a loving, dignified and compassionate home. We believe that we only provide 5 things for our residents and families…safety, security, love, compassion and dignity.
Journey Senior Living has one new community under construction in Ankeny, IA and planned communities in NW Indiana and the Florida Panhandle. Currently, Journey also leases and manages 5 memory care communities in central Illinois.
Blair has served on the Board of Directors of the Argentum (formerly ALFA), the largest national organization exclusively dedicated to professional operated assisted living communities since 2010.
Mary Jo started her career as a critical care, trauma nurse. In 1988 she became a Director of Ambulatory and Emergency Services, and, in 1991, she was named Vice President responsible for multiple outpatient services including ambulatory surgery and emergency- trauma services. Then, in 1996, she took a leap in responsibility to become President and CEO of an autonomous for-profit division. This division was charged with building physician/hospital organizations, contracting for managed care services, administering owned physician practices and selling occupational health services. In 1999, after a corporate merger Ms. Snyder decided to take
her leadership skills in new directions: She became a Director of Policy Initiatives for the University of Illinois at Chicago, and then created Echo Consulting Group, LLC. At UIC she created stand alone nursing practice plans and integrated academic physician practice into these independent units.
Echo Consulting has focused extensively on operational efficiency in
both inpatient and outpatient settings using a unique methodology (discrete
event simulation modeling).
Her consulting practice takes her across the country observing challenges many communities face in dealing with high quality residents for seniors. As a member of the Long Family, Long Family Development felt the need to provide this type of facility for the community they grew up in. Harvest View was born from this commitment by the family.
She has since taken on numerous management and consulting challenges and built a leadership team that shares the same philosophy. Mary Jo received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Governors State University. She has both a MS in Nursing and her MBA from the University of Illinois in Chicago.
Mary Jo has lectured extensively on many healthcare topics. She holds memberships in the American College of Health Care Executives, American Organization of Nurse Executives, Medical Management Practice Association, Illinois Organization of Nurse Leaders, and Emergency Nurses Association and Texas Organization of Nurse Executives.
